A room full of names, or one person on the line.
Chatib is a chat-room site: you fill in a short form, land in a room, and pick people from a list of who is online. HearMe Chat works the other way round. You tap Start and the site finds you one stranger to talk to, by text or by a voice call that only ever uses your microphone. Both are free and neither needs an account to begin. This page compares them using Chatib's own pages, archived on 7 October 2026 and read on 20 October 2026.

Chatib's column is from its home page, FAQ, safety page and terms of service as archived on 7 October 2026. "Not mentioned" means those pages do not say, not that the feature is missing.
What Chatib is
Chatib calls itself free chat rooms with no registration. The start form asks for a username, your gender, your age (the drop-down starts at 18) and your country, and for United States users a state. Once inside, its FAQ says, you see a list of everyone online on the left and click a name to open a private chat box with that person.
Its terms describe the site as being for real-time anonymous conversations and list AI Chat, chat rooms and game rooms among its features. Registering is free and adds animated GIFs, a username you can keep and change, font colours and a friends list; only registered users can be added as friends. There is also a paid VIP membership, linked from the FAQ, whose price the pages we read do not give.
The site leans towards meeting people. Its FAQ describes its users as men and women from around the world looking to make connections and meet someone special, and its blog links are dating tips.
Where HearMe Chat is different
The biggest difference is how a conversation starts. On Chatib you browse a list and message whoever you choose, so the people who get the most messages are the ones whose name, age or gender stands out. On HearMe Chat the usual way in is the match: you tap Start and get one person who is also waiting, with interest tags nudging it towards someone who picked the same ones. There is a Who's online page too, but from it you can only send a Say hi, which the other person accepts or passes on. Nobody can open a private chat with you without your OK, and your country is never shown to anyone.
The second difference is voice. HearMe Chat has a voice chat that is a private call between two people, using your microphone and nothing else. The site never asks for a camera because it has no video at all. If you want to hear someone rather than read them, that is the part Chatib's pages do not describe.
The third is what the site checks. Chatib's terms say it does not take on a duty to monitor what users post. On HearMe Chat every text message is scanned for signs that the writer is under 18 and goes through rate limits before it is sent, phone numbers and links are stopped in the room, and any chat can be reported with the recent messages attached so a moderator can see what happened.
People do use it. From 13 to 19 October 2026, 9,633 text chats were started on HearMe Chat, by our own count of the database, along with 754 voice calls. Those numbers are real conversations between people, not visits.
Where Chatib is better
Chatib gives you choice. If you would rather pick who to talk to by country, age or gender than leave it to a queue, its user list does exactly that, and it costs nothing. HearMe Chat only offers a country filter with Premium, and even then it is a preference that widens to everyone after a few seconds.
It also has more to do in one place: several chat rooms, game rooms, an AI chat and GIFs for registered users. HearMe Chat has one room, General, and no games. If what you want is a busy multi-room hangout with a friends list, Chatib is built around that, and HearMe Chat's single room will feel small.
How to switch in 30 seconds
- Open HearMe Chat. There is no form to fill in beyond a nickname.
- Tick that you are 18 or over, and add an interest or two if you like.
- Tap Text for a typed chat, or Voice and allow the microphone once.
- Say hello. If it is not a match, tap Next for the next person; if it is, a free account lets you send a friend request.
If you miss the room feeling, open chat rooms and read General before you write anything.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to register on HearMe Chat?
No. You need a nickname and to confirm you are 18 or over. A free account (email or Google) adds friends and direct messages.
Is Chatib safe?
Chatib's own safety page says the site is for adults only but that it cannot verify ages, and its terms say it does not take on a duty to monitor what users post. It does block users who break its rules. Treat it as you would any open chat room: no personal details, no links, no money.
Is there a Chatib app?
The Chatib pages we read link no app; it runs in the browser. HearMe Chat also runs in any phone or desktop browser with nothing to install.
Is Chatib down?
We cannot check it for you. If it will not load, try another browser or network, or come back later. If you just want someone to talk to now, HearMe Chat's text and voice chat work without an account.
Does HearMe Chat have a user list like Chatib?
A smaller one. The Who's online page lists people who have not opted out, and you can send a Say hi that they accept or pass on. It never shows anyone's country, and nobody can message you without your OK. Most chats start from the match instead.
